It Conquered Hollywood - The Story of AIP/
Ballyhoo: The Hollywood Sideshow
2001 USA color
''This is the story of 500 forgettable movies. And 2 unforgettable men.'' So reads an
onscreen legend at the beginning of ``It Conquered Hollywood! The Story of American
International Pictures''. From ``The Fast and the Furious'' in 1954 to ``The Amityville
Horror'' in 1979 (more or less), American International Pictures was the leading
producer and distributer of teen-oriented exploitation titles.
Then, Frankie Avalon hosts "Ballyhoo: The Hollywood Sideshow", a wondrous tour of
3-D glasses, electric-wired seats, life-insurance policies in case of death by fright, and
other great hucksterisms that were more creative than the movies they promoted!
Avalon then give us a tribute to filmaker, writer, artist, and movie fan John Waters, the
"Bad Boy of Baltimore"!

Divine Waters / The Diane Linkletter Story
1985 Italy/USA color
This hard-to-find Italian documentary was shot right after Polyster, and focuses on
the careers of influential partners in filth, John Waters and Divine. Includes
interviews with John's parents and sister. Edith Massey treats us to two songs
('Punks, Get off the Grass' and 'Fever'), and Divine performs 'Born to be Cheap'.
Then behold The Diane Linkletter Story (1969). Picture quality on these 2 titles is
on the fair side.
Also included are 3 bonus titles: "Aint' They Divine?", a featurette on John Waters
and Divine originally shown on The Movie Loft; a sparkling clean digital transfer of
Love Letter To Edie (1975); and John Waters' famous "No Smoking" trailer. These
3 shorts contain alternate audio commentary by Pat Moran, Vince Peranio and
John Waters.

Metta Meta Gakido Koza
1971 Japan color
Very strange film based on the comic book by Tanioka Yasuji. Brought to you by
Ukawa Naohiro and his Mom'n'Dad Productions, this lost treasure is described as
"the world of cartoon of scream and kitchen knife brain heaven sticking, Hough
Hough milk inhaling and nosebleed...Considerably, is vulgar taste, but it became
the work which leaves intense impression, is overflowing in strange force." (literal
Japanese to English translation) I couldn't agree more!
Highly highly recommended! In original Japanese language, 16:9 letterbox
CinemaScope, sparkling digital transfer. Includes "bloody" Kleenex.

The Embalmer
1966 Italy b&w
Fiendish and petrifying! A crazed killer is on the loose in the catacombs of Venice,
Italy. He stalks beautiful women, drags them to his underground lair, kills them, then
stuffs them and adds them to his "collection." This black & white spaghetti-schlocker
first showed in a drive-in double bill in 1966 with Michael Reeve's first film, THE SHE
BEAST with Barbara Steele. It was then picked up again in 1973 in a triple-bill
alongside T.V. Mikels' THE CORPSE GRINDERS and THE UNDERTAKER AND HIS
PALS where a nurse checked everyone's blood pressures before they watched
these three absoulutely terrorfying movies!
Include a smattering of gothic-a-go-go horror movie trailers, plus and intermission
reel that will make you want candy and a hot dog.

The Long Hair of Death

Horror Castle (aka The Virgin of Nuremberg)
1963 Italy/USA Color
A haunted castle on the Rhine is the setting for this Euro-horror movie with
Christopher Lee as the terribly scarred chauffeur/caretaker. Georges Riviere
arrives at the family castle with his American wife (Rossana Podesta) and the
mysterious mutilations begin. Some believe a 300-year-old-executioner is using a
still-intact and well-supplied torture chamber. The truth about the deaths turns out
to be related to more recent tortures - Nazis.
With a beginning that is strikingly similar to the opening of Bloody Pit of Horror,
this gothic shocker has more creepy atmosphere than most, with a hearty helping
of gore thrown in for good measure. Includes theatrical trailer.

Creature of Destruction
1967 USA color
Larry Bucannan's made for TV zero-budget wonder contemplates hypnotism,
ESP, government coverup operations, and a monster with ping-pong balls for
eyes. The Scotty McKay Band (seen in the fabulous b&w shocker "The Black Cat"
the year before) does a groovy poolside song and dance called "Batman"! (so
good) Les Tramain gives it his all as the diabolical hypnotist. Highly recommended

The Wild World of Batwoman (aka She Was A Hippy Vampire)
1966 USA b&w
This is said to be Jerry Warren's worst film, which would really make it unbelievable.
He was sued for using the name Batwoman, so he changed the title to She Was A
Hippie Vampire. Smart move, Jerry. He lost so much cash fighting the lawsuit that
he never again blessed us with his cinematic charms. Very few people have seen
this picture. A few more would like to. Slightly overage Katherin Victor stars in a
tight black costume with a cheap mask, teased hair, and a rubber bat glued to her
chest. She and her batgirls battle Dr. Neon and Ratfink who are after a hearing
aid/atomic bomb and use laughter pills.
From a squeeky clean digital master, includes Jerry Warren Trailer Reel. For
weirdos only.

Darktown Strutters (aka Get Down And Boogie)
1975 USA color
"Better move your butt when these ladies strut!" A band of sexy-cycle riding soul
sisters, all of them knock-out vigilantes, take to the streets to find out why citizens
are starting to disappear. Neither rival male gangs nor bumbling law officers can
stand in their way. Stars Trina Parks (from Diamonds Are Forever) Edna
Richardson, Bettye Sweet, Shirley Washington, Roger E. Mosley, Dick Miller, and
The Dramatics who perform "What You See Is What You Get" from a jail cell.
Darktown Strutters was the last film from veteran director William Whitney (The
Cool And The Crazy). Forget Carwash, this is the real deal baby.

the principal that maybe grass isn't so bad. Diane McBain (of the Surfside Six series)

students. Written by the incredible turned-on team of Peter Marshall ( Hollywood
Squares) and Dick Gautier (Hymie the C.O.N.T.R.O.L. robot on Get Smart). With
Patty McCormack, the by-then grown-up little girl from The Bad Seed, Kevin
Coughlin, Russ Bender, Teri Garr, and a bit by Gautier.
